NBC's Grand Central Automat: Free Food is Free Food

We are embarrassingly adept at sniffing out free food, so we couldn't help but check out the homage to the automat that the folks from NBC have set up in Grand Central Terminal to promote the new series America's Next Great Restaurant. Spoiler: It's not exactly a machine, but more of a series of cubby holes that the cooks can place the food on for hungry commuters.

Our favorites were the cheddar béchamel mac and cheese and the fried chicken slider, but we can make a better grilled cheese in our sleep. Most people passing through Vanderbilt Hall seemed to take them up on a bite, and it made the competing Symantec Anti-Virus exhibit look positively lonely. Take it from Senator Schumer: People tend to respond to calls of "free food!" not "systematic heuristic software protects against malware!"

NBC's automat is only open until 7pm today and from 9am to 7pm tomorrow, so skip the unfortunately named Chirping Chicken and grab something for the ride home.
